Bingo and Oklahoma: Two birds of a feather

Oklahoma has for a long time been analogous with Bingo. That’s because the American Indian tribes of Oklahoma have run Bingo sessions for generations. Patrons from each of the surrounding states pile in vans and travel into Oklahoma to wager on Bingo for the weekends.

The 1988 IGRA was introduced after a precedent setting decree by The U.S. Supreme Court just the prior year. Since that instance, 23 of the thirty nine Native bands located in Oklahoma have opened gaming halls. The Chickasaw were the initial Oklahoma Amerindian tribes to take advantage of the gaming restrictions, and today run ten gambling halls of their very own. Bingo is the game on which these gambling halls were built on. digital games like one armed bandits weren’t authorized, owing to the fact that they are believed to lead to gambling problems at a higher rate than bingo.

In the past few years, Oklahoma law has changed to allow for enormous Native wagering gambling halls. You will now find American Indian casinos with slot machines, video poker and vingt-et-un tables.
