Will the Anti Cigarette Law in Britain Take Bingo Enthusiasts On to the Internet?

A lot has been stated in the papers just a while ago about the bingo industry being hurt because of the anti smoking law in the UK. Conditions have become so bad that in Scotland the Bingo industry has requested big aid to help keep the industry alive. But can the online version of this classic game provide a lifeline, or might it in no way compare to its real life opposite?

Bingo is an enduring game usually played by the "blue rinse" generation. In any case the game recently had experienced a recent resurgence in acceptance with younger people opting to hit the bingo halls in place of the discos on a Saturday night. All this is about to be destroyed with the enacting of the anti cigarette law throughout United Kingdom.

Players will no longer be able to puff on cigarettes while marking numbers. Beginning in the summer of ‘07 every public place will no longer be permitted to allow smoking in their locations and this includes Bingo parlours, which are possibly the most common locations where people like to puff on cigarettes.

The outcome of the anti cigarette law can already be felt in Scotland where cigarettes are already not allowed in the bingo halls. Numbers have plummeted and the industry is absolutely struggling for its life. But where have all the players gone? Surely they have not forgotten this age old game?

The answer is on the internet. Gamblers know that they can gamble on bingo in front of their computer while enjoying a drink and cigarette and still have a chance at big prizes. This is a recent anomaly and has happened bordering on perfect with the ban on cigarettes.

Of course gambling on on the web is unlikely to replace the social part of heading down to the bingo parlor, but for a group of players the governing edicts have left a number of bingo players with little alternative.
