Might the Anti Smoking Law in the UK Force Bingo Enthusiasts On to the Net?

Much has been stated in the papers not long ago regarding the bingo industry singing the blues as a consequence of the smoking ban in the UK. Things have grown so bad that in Scotland the Bingo industry has requested big aid to assist in keeping the businesses from going bankrupt. However does the online adaptation of this quintessential game present a salvation, or might it not compare to its land based kin?

Bingo has been an enduring game normally played by the "blue haired" generation. For all that the game lately had experienced a recent resurgence in appeal with younger members of society opting to go to the bingo halls instead of the clubs on a weekend. This is all about to change with the introduction of the anti cigarette law across Britain.

No longer will enthusiasts be allowed to puff on cigarettes at the same time dabbing numbers. Starting in the summer of ‘07 all public locations will not be allowed to permit smoking in their buildings and this includes Bingo halls, one of the most popular areas where many people like to puff on cigarettes.

The results of the smoking ban can already be looked at in Scotland where cigarettes are already illegal in the bingo halls. Players have dropped and the industry is beyond a doubt fighting for its life. But where did all the players go? Surely they haven’t forgotten this enduring game?

The answer is on the net. Players realize that they can enjoy bingo in front of their computer whilst enjoying a cocktail and cig and still have a chance at huge jackpots. This is a recent development and has happened bordering on perfect with the ban on cigarettes.

Of course playing online will never replace the social portion of going over to the bingo parlor, but for a group of men and women the governing edicts have left a lot of bingo players with little option.
