Will the Smoking Ban in England Force Bingo Players Online?

Much has been stated in the press not long ago regarding the bingo industry struggling as a result of the smoking ban in the United Kingdom. Conditions have grown so awful that in Scotland the Bingo industry has requested huge aid to help keep the industry from going bankrupt. However will the net version of this quintessential game present a salvation, or will it never compare to its real life equivalent?

Bingo is an classic game usually played by the "blue haired" generation. Although the game of late had witnessed a recent resurgence in acceptance with younger people deciding to hit the bingo parlors rather than the clubs on a Saturday night. All this is about to change with the enforcement of the smoking ban across Britain.

No more will enthusiasts be permitted to smoke while marking numbers. Starting in the summer of ‘07 all public areas will no longer be allowed to permit cigarettes in their buildings and this includes Bingo parlors, which are possibly the most popular locations where players enjoy smoking.

The effects of the anti smoking law can already be felt in Scotland where smoking is already prohibited in the bingo halls. Players have dropped and the industry is absolutely fighting for its life. But where did all the players go? Certainly they have not cast aside this classic game?

The answer is on the net. Gamblers are now realizing that they can wager on bingo using their computer at the same time enjoying a drink and cig and still enjoy monstrous cash rewards. This is a recent development and has timed itself just about perfectly with the ban on smoking.

Of course gambling on on the net is unlikely to replace the collective part of heading over to the bingo parlour, but for a group of men and women the governing edicts have left a number of bingo players with no choice.
