Oklahoma Bingo

Oklahoma has long been synonymous with Bingo. This is due to the fact that the Native bands of Oklahoma have run Bingo sessions for ages. Guests from each of the surrounding states pile in passenger cars and travel to Oklahoma to play Bingo over the weekends.

The 1988 Indian Gaming Regulatory Act became law after a precedent setting determination by The U.S. Supreme Court the year prior. Since that instance, 23 of the 39 American Indian tribes of Oklahoma have opened gaming halls. The Chickasaw were the 1st Oklahoma Indian band to take advantage of the wagering laws, and at this time control ten gambling dens of their own. Bingo is the game on which the above-mentioned gambling dens were built on. computerized games like one armed bandits were not permitted, because they are believed to lead to gambling problems at a higher rate than bingo.

In recent years, Oklahoma rules has altered to permit big American Indian gaming gambling dens. You’ll now see Amerindian gambling halls with slot machines, video poker and vingt-et-un tables. Craps and roulette are still not authorized in the Native gambling halls as of yet, but this is just a matter of time. No one can say what having other casino games in the bingo parlors will do for the popularity of bingo.
